Jasper County creates second phase urban renewal plan for Co-Line

Supervisors adopted the Phase 2 Urban Renewal Plan for Co-Line Manufacturing — a metal fabricator located on the county line between Jasper County and Mahaska County — thereby giving Jasper County an economic development tool to assist the company with its expansions.
Jeff Davidson, executive director of JEDCO, told Newton News in a follow-up interview on Tuesday, Sept. 22 that an urban renewal plan is an enabling mechanism for tax increment financing, or TIF, which is the one tool municipalities have to do economic development projects.
