The Ames Community Arts Council and the Octagon Center for the Arts have opened registration for the Business of Art Conference scheduled for March 1-2 at Reiman Gardens in Ames.

This conference is designed to strengthen skills and resources in both formally trained and self-taught creatives. Conference topics include developing a brand, finding a market through an online presence, festivals, galleries, consignment, and/or retail/wholesale sales, searching for funding, and self-care. In addition to professional development sessions, the conference will include networking opportunities throughout the day. Professionals and students in all types of creative work, part-time or full-time, in all stages of their careers, are welcome.

Jill Wells, a Fine Arts graduate from Drake University, known for her multimedia works that explore social issues, will headline the event. Participants can also opt for a photography workshop with Clark Colby for an additional fee.

The two-day conference includes refreshments and lunch. Registration is $100 for professionals and $50 for students. Additional details and registration can be found at the Conference website.
