FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Open in Newton

Starting July 1, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Jasper County Emergency Management Agency will open a disaster recovery center at WEST Academy, located on the north side of the E.J.H. Beard Administration Center, 1302 First Ave. W., in Newton.

Residents may visit the center to report home damages that occurred from May 20 to May 31. Residents may also use the center to submit applications for federal assistance. Others may still file for FEMA assistance and other critical resources online at www.disasterassistance.gov.

The center will be open from 1--6 p.m. on July 1 and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 2-5. Jasper County EMA said other dates will be available for those who cannot make these days.
