The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will consider proposals for the sale of the property at 5411 Liberty Avenue. The property was most recently operated as the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and has been vacant since 2020. The property is 4.63 acres and contains two buildings: a 5,160 square foot open span steel construction building with office and restrooms constructed in 2001 and a 768 square foot garage constructed in 1985. The property also includes a paved parking lot and driveway. The 2022 assessed valuation of the land is $43,740, and the buildings is $271,440

The Board of Supervisors is not soliciting bids for the property. Rather, the Board is requesting proposals to create an active, tax-paying property use. Submissions that do not include an active tax-paying use for the property will not be considered.

In addition to the requirement that the proposed use of the property shall return it to the tax rolls, proposals should also indicate the cash amount for the purchase of the property and the estimated investment in the property required to establish the proposed use. Animal-related uses are acceptable, except for those with the purpose of sheltering stray animals.

An open house for viewing the property will occur on Tuesday, May 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Proposals are due in Jasper County Auditor’s office no later than noon on June 14, 2023.
