Jasper County approved a state Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) grant and a professional services agreement to extend the existing paving on Cordova Avenue near Co-Line Manufacturing. The paving project will allow a change in Co-Line’s vehicle circulation system, which is linked to the company’s $4.2 million expansion.
Jasper County Engineer Michael Frietsch estimated the total costs for the project to be around $300,000. The RISE grant will cover half of the project, with the county matching the remaining half. Due to the project’s proximity to Mahaska County, Frietsch has discussed the project with Mahaska County officials and will draft a memorandum of understanding with the neighboring county to split the project costs.
The $15,000 professional services agreement approved by the Board of Supervisors in conjunction with the RISE grant agreement will enable Garden and Associates LTD to complete the final design of the extension. Frietsch indicated that this will enable completion of the final design by May and project letting in June.
