At its April 6 meeting, the Enhance Iowa Board awarded the City of Prairie City $200,000 toward its $1,122,716 library renovation project. The funding will help support the library’s expansion and renovation of an empty building in the town square to serve as its new location. The new library will be adjacent to the Prairie City City Hall and less than a half block from the Red Rock Prairie Trail.

Prairie City’s award was one of eighteen Enhance Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants awarded at the April meeting. The Enhance Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational, or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa.
